Losing fuel pressure

Zing!!! No luck with the KY either traveler, but thanks for the laugh! I haven't really messed with the fuel system at all, but have noticed what used to be one wet injector is now two wet injectors. I did replace all the glow plugs, so maybe I bumped something wrong during that process. I was doing it at night mostly by feel

Hopefully replacing some orings and a new fuel filter gets her up to ***** at least until the temps start staying above freezing.

Sounds like a plan and you are keeping a shape I on things. I'll bet while your fingers were feeling the GP's the back of your hand was feeling the return lines. Good luck.

Well no leaks in the fuel system anymore. 5 more gal. in the tank. GP's disabled, starter fluid used and it doesn't even fire. Dang. Well, I got the block heater plugged in and after a few hours I will try again. I'm just scratching my head.

sure you are getting fuel? with the addition of ether the truck should at least attempt to fire even without fuel. careful with that ether btw

That's what I really don't get. I figured with ether it would at least fire once or something. I am 90% sure it's getting fuel. It has a little inline electric pump. I suppose I will crack a fuel line again to make sure fuel comes out while the electric pump runs.

you could crack lines pre filter, then post filter, then injection, then check the fss. its just diagnostic checks now

I like your idea aggie. That is the next step. What is the fss?

fuel shutoff solenoid it is the most forward electrical blade post on the drivers side of the injection pump. It is the on/off switch for the injector pump. when 12v is applied you should hear a click from inside the pump. if you do not hear that click then that means the fss is not working without the fss the ip will not work.

what brand pump? i killed my holley blue with too much waste oil and too cold outside

It was some cheap napa. PN E8012. I am pretty sure the lift pump works though. He just put the electric pump on to help with starting because it had fuel leaks. I may have killed this pump by putting 3 qts oil in with 4 gal of diesel.

it has an electric and a mechanical lift pump? Is the electric on a bypass line

The lift pump is not being used. The only fuel lines in use are on the now dead e pump.

Im in the process of making many additions/repairs on the pickup this is one, elec FP. I was also thinking of keeping the lift pump, but a question came to mind. Can you leave the lift pump on and not have any fuel running through it, would that hurt it to run dry??

In one of my plans for a heated fuel tank the lift pump would just recirculate regular diesel fuel, while I ran on wmo/wvo.

I really don't know Brad. I think the lift pump is fine after not being used for a while, but I will find out pretty quick if mine still works or not. I am sure one used to continue recirculation fuel will be fine. I am just worried about seals on mine drying up or something.
