lift pump is leaking diesel.

My lift pump seems to have a very slow leak some where? I was thinking the rubber fuel line might be culprit. Any other suggestions? Or should I just replace the entire thing? It seems to run great no problems starting or driving the truck just a little fuel leak thats all.

If your talking about the lift pump attached to the engine. Yes that short rubber hose from the suction hard line to the LP deteriorates/cracks and will leak, another place on the LP is the hard line fitting will leak if not tight or has been cross threaded. If your gaining oil in the crankcase, the LP is shot, the internal diaphram has a hole/split in it.

I agree with Bill. Most of the time when a pump fails it leaks fuel out a weep hole so it wont flow into the engine but. Sometimes that still happens and you full the crankcase with diesel. That ruins the engine in short order too. Many times the leak is just the rubber hose. That porr thing takes a beating with all the engine rocking around during a shift up ot down in the trans.

Well its been leaking for a little while due to residual build up of s**t sticking to the diesel so I don't think its leaking into my crank case. I check my oil and coolant 3-4 times a week just to get outside and away from the old lady ******* and sip on a cold one and the oil will always read the same or a little low depending on bow long its been. My oil cooler leaks also on the back filter head.
I will slip off the old hose and put new back on and check that everything is nice and tight.

if you replace the pump I would highly recommend going for a carter lift pump. the airtex pumps I have used and seen used do not seem to hold up nearly as well.
