Both my tanks are leaking. I am planning on replacing both of them and was wondering the best place to get new tanks from. Someone had recomended MTS tanks, which are plastic and are supposed to be of high quality and solve the leak problem. Those will cost me about $270 shipped for the pair. Are these the best to go with or is their a cheaper alternative. Thanks- ;Sweet

I have done this twice. If the leak is on the bottom half, I cleaned the tank with a wire wheel taking it down to bare metal. Make sure the tank is empty and full of water. Then covered only the bottom half with fiberglass and resin. I learned this from a guy that restores old cars and he does it all the time. As far as I know, the 83 American Motors Eagle I did lasted for about 10 years after I got rid of it.

They are steel tanks and are suppose to interchange between gas and diesel. They do not handle the fuel senders/pickups for our beloved diesels.
