Keep or replace oil pump during rebuild?

Is the general consensus still to reuse the original oil pump during a rebuild or should it be replaced? Mine turns over smoothly and is clean. There is some wear on the impeller blades but does not seem bad. Can fit a ~.012"-.013" feeler between the impeller blades. What do y'all recommend in this area?

I replaced mine when I did a rebuild, if it goes bad your going to have to pull the motor again.

I don't know if the prevailng mindset here is a worn oem pump is superior to a chiacom offering, so I'm going to say...

Common sense used to require a new pump, although it died long ago..

I guess I feel kind of dumb even asking the question.. I ask just to make sure not wasting $275 and because of reading previous threads on here like the one below:

I have a new melling oil pump in mine, and if I ever need to drop the pan I am going to put the original IH one back in.
the melling was so far out of spec I almost didnt use it. had to sand the housings to get minimum gear clearance.

There is no hi volume pump for these and I would have to say dont use a new one unless yours is trashed.

Oil pump, unless it looks/feels like it was damaged, is going to be fine. They don't generally wear out, and the factory ones are better than new aftermarket anyway...

It pumps so much oil as it is that a little leakage isn't going to affect anything. Low oil pressure at idle is caused by a sticky relief valve in the oil cooler, not (generally) an oil pump issue.

That being said, 10 psi at hot idle is 'fine'.

There was a time when the replacement pumps provided much lower pressure than a several hundred miles old pump. Everybody started just re using the old pump.
I would just check it out good. If it looks good, run it.
