ISO 7.3 IDIT engine

Checking the compression 2 of the pistons are low and burning a lot of oil
so planing to swap a IDIT
which is the price for a good engine with the turbo?

maybe planning to sell my truck
its a 1993 f350 stick 4wd
rebuild injectors
rebuild tranny(by me) working good
new rear shocks
new windshield
85% treat left on tires Toyo Open Country
decent interior

Low comp could be valve isse....

Try leakdown test more accurate.

the other problems is that is burning a lot of oil
already change the CDR and valve stema

How many qts are you adding between oil changes?

the last time i drove it
did a 60 miles trip and burn around 1 quarter

I know that is discouraging.

My truck is interesting with oil burning.

If I fill it to the full line on the dipstick, it will burn the first two quarts within 500 miles. After that, it won't burn very much more at all. Seems strange to me, but that is the way it works.

Next time you change oil, add only 12 Qts., start engine to fill filter, stop and let drain for 1/2 hour, check level, add to bring level up to 1/4" below full mark. Do NOT add more than 2 more Qts., if it takes more than the two, could be your dip stick is wrong. Try that.

What is "low" to you? What psi did you actually get on those cylinders?

A lot of things can cause low compression.

How much blowby do you have? With it running and warm, when you pull the oil fill cap, does it seem to have a good bit of pressure blowing out of it?

Looks a bit tired but sounds good. I would run a leak down test.

What were the actual compression test numbers?

it has around 304k miles
runs strong a little blue smoke when accelerating from a stop signal
and burning oil

Here in San Diego are hard to find
there's a lot of cummins 5.9 out there but they are way more expensive
