I am new to diesels, I have a 98 1/2 dodge cummins with 57,000 miles on it. when I start my truck after it has been sitting for a while and it is cold my check engine light stays on for 5 to 20 seconds until the oil pressure guage shoots up to 60. I have an edge programmer with a monitor and it shows my oil pressure to be around 30 when I start it up then goes up after I start driving. do I need to be concerned about my check engine light. Could there be a bigger problem that I need to be worried about.:dunno

this is a normal deal...................its the oil pressure sender and they are known to be off, if you are real concerned you can pull the 1/4" NPT plug from the top of yer oil filter head and run a gauge in there or a sender then into the cab from there..............................but I can tell you yer oil pressure is fine

Cheers,Kevin
