So I’ve got my turbo off my spare motor and the intake screen is totally warped and distorted from the previous owner. The turbo has a remanufactured stamp on it so that’s good I guess.

So...do I need this screen? I have the blown motor in the truck that I could get another screen from if needed. But how do you get these turbo snail housings off without removing the turbo?

Thanks!

That screen is not needed with a turbo. You have to loosen the bolts that mount the turbo to the back of the intake manifold. Hopefully, that will let you rock the turbo back far enough to get the snail off.

Might be a good idea to keep the screen if something comes apart.

I remember fighting that stupid hat forever not wanting to loosen up the turbo mounting bolts. But you must! They are such a pain...this is the only way, I'm afraid.
