May get flamed for this, but I'm on a really tight budget and need a new injection pump (among other things). I'd love to get a Moose, but it's just too expensive. I'm looking for a remanufactured stock pump. Can anyone reccomend a good consistant rebuilder for around $300? or is that a pipe dream

Pensacola diesel scared me away by what they put on the page with the injector pumps for our trucks, they are the cheap one (300 something) and you need to avoid them like the plague!! Check the hall of shame, really dont hear much good about them.

Sadly, if you want a quality rebuild you have to pay. It sucks I know

I got one from pensacola and didn't even use it, sent it right to Mel and he went through it, said that it had parts forced together and not in spec.

I'd suggest saving pennies and dimes for a DB2 from Mel or Russ,

Listen close I'm sure they talk about a DB2 and saving for a NEW one

There are a number of forum members here that can supply you with a quality pump/injectors at a reasonable price. Probably not $300, but still reasonable.....and you know that it will be a quality product.

Maybe we can help you, but first a few questions.

1. How much do you know about Diesels? Alot --- Some---Not so much. Don't have to answer this.

2. Why do you think you need an IP?

3. Is or has the IP been timed?

4. Is the IP the original? Gray paint is usually original.

5. Same with the injectors?

6. Has new fuel hoses been installed between injectors,IP and filter?

7. Do you have good flow from the lift pump?

8. Is the filter clean or ever been changed?

9. Have you ever run out of fuel and still have a 1/4 tank or more left?

10. We DON'T FLAME, maybe a tiny bit.

Injectors from Accurate diesel. Seen some good reviews about them. They don't have any IP's.

Thedieselstore.com has pumps for 500 or so, both for the 6.9 and 7.3. Ive ordered 2 of them for random projects and have had no complaints. Shipping is quick too, but then again, I live at Ft. Lewis and they are in portland.

Some. I own an Isuzu P'up and an International S1600 6.9. They are both my first diesels, I live in the s1600 and have fixed various things on both.

2. Why do you think you need an IP?
90,000 miles on the truck. The owner before me ran dirty WVO for 2000 miles. I'm trying to go though the truck and get it running better.

3. Is or has the IP been timed?
nope

4. Is the IP the original? Gray paint is usually original.
not sure, I think yes

5. Same with the injectors?
yup

6. Has new fuel hoses been installed between injectors,IP and filter?
no, I was planning on doing that as well.. along with a new lit pump, and getting rid of the fuel and water seperator. I had a lot of air leak and power issues on my last trip accross the country

7. Do you have good flow from the lift pump?
decent, but i have nothing to compair it to.

8. Is the filter clean or ever been changed?
new filter

9. Have you ever run out of fuel and still have a 1/4 tank or more left?
not "run out" but last time i took the tank down to 1/4 there seem to be a serious air leak. I was thinking it may be a cracked pickup. I've kept it 1/2 or above since then

10. We DON'T FLAME, maybe a tiny bit.

thanks for the help y'all
