I am looking for a set of front springs for the IFS. I was hoping that someone that has done the solid axle swap would be able to help me out. I have a bad spring and would like to replace both of the front springs so that i have 2 that are evenly worn, and I can't bring myself to spend $90 each on springs for a truck that will only be used a few times a year. I would be willing to pay for shipping.
Thanks

I don't know how close to you these junkyards are, but they have front springs. Looks like they are about half price. They had a choice of 2.03" thick springs and 1.45" thick springs. I picked the 2.03 since somewhere I read the ttb springs are stiffer than the solid axle springs.

ennis and stonewall appear to be about 4 hours from me and brownwood is about 6 hours. i think the 2.03 is the right thickness. i will be scouting the local pick a parts but was hoping for something that someone could give me a little history on.

i dont want to add a leaf to mine because it is actually broken.

you can see in the pic that the far leaf has a piece about 3in long broken off the front of it. i am pretty sure that i will have to add a leaf to the new ones but at least they will be whole when i do it.

ok, i have a possible new direction here. i have located a set of the 1.4375" springs that are from a 351W F250. i need the 2.03" for my truck.

if i were to purchase these lighter springs and put my lower (broken) spring on the bottom of these springs as an add a leaf setup, would it work? or would this be inviting trouble down the road?

my concern is with the spring eyes on the lighter springs. the upper spring is what actually takes the brunt of the force and the lower springs help carry the weight.

my other option would be to cut the eyes off of the lighter springs and repace my lower springs with the them. the reason i am not considering this as the primary option is because the eye on the broken spring is already starting to bend down and that gives me concers with its future life.

any thoughts?
