The best and only way we recommend timing these idi engines is by the pulse method. Not by ear or the luminosity probe type timing. So ask before you spend money getting the timing done. The worst type of timing is the ear method. What they do is listen to the engine and charge you for that.. If thats all you can get done please call me to do that for you... I will do it for 1/2 what the shop wiil be charging you and I can do it sitting here over the computer.... Thats about what you get having someone time by ear method... Its basically worthless. Some here can get it close listening but there is no way they are going to know what the degrees of advance wil be without a meter.

what kind of equipment is needed for pulse timing? When I get home I will have to read in my ford books on timing my 6.9 up a little.
