had my truck for inspection and when we tried to remove the rear drums the lips just crumbled.... shoes were cracked...hub seals were leaking on the rear...and now the front started griding...

so i guess its time for new brakes hahaha

so i ordered as follows...

new front pads
new rear shoes
2 new rear drums
2 spring kits
2 self adjuster kits
2 axle flange seals
2 inner hub seals
2 wheel cylinders (just cause they were so cheap...


and with the discount code that agnem posted (thanks mel!)

came out to $243!!!!!

hopefully i dont need new rotors but if i do ill get those locally...

next weekend is gunna be busy haha

both...

most of the stuff i bought was bendix....felpro flange seals...national hub seals....wagner shoes and pads...the only parts i got they are wholesale were the drums themselves...and they were guardian/one source

the wheel cylinders were $4.03 ea....drums were $40.79ea...

my wheel cylinders arent leaking but for $4/ea i couldnt go wrong.

If rock auto had a store in my town, I would never leave.....

They started calculating and charging canadian sales taxes from their end recently so my last order was NOT dinged with a brokerage fee and I didn't get a COD either.

They rock - plain and simple.

EDIT: Goofy: you can calculate shipping before placing your order. Everything is automated now.

yes they are...ive had an instance where they had the wrong part number listed and they just sent me new stuff imedietly. very easy to deal with customer service

I just purchased a step van with a 4bt and the rear brakes including parking brake were done so I ordered all from them for 1/3 less than what it would cost Me buying locally.

I ordered from them for the first time the other day and will definitely be a repeat customer. I couldn't believe how much cheaper they were. I wish I would have checked last month on the sending unit for our car. It was like 240 from Oriellys and I got it on ebay for 170 or so shipped well I can get it on rockauto for 115 plus whatever shipping is. The clutch fork I needed I could only find at napa for 40 and they had it for 13. Some stuff their price is about the same or higher so its good to check. If its something I am not positive because of their description I will get in person so I can exchange it quickly. They also sell the sliding rear window latch thats plastic for a few dollars.

I have found that if you order alot of different items, they come from different warehouses, and they charge you compound shipping. It oftens negates them being cheaper then my local oreillys. They can usually beat it by a few bucks but its not worth the wait and possible wrong part you may end up with.

I just bought 2 front calipers, rotors and pads for my toyota, and with shipping, rock auto was only a couple bucks cheaper then oreillys. I have found that you gotta shop around, some places have the cheapest price on one thing, and the other will beat it on another.

Just for ***** and giggles, I looked up the prices at oreillys for all that stuff and I came up with a total of 256 bucks using their house brands(which are borg warner re-labels). If you would take away the 5% discount from rock auto, they end up not being any cheaper, and depending on where the stuff has to be shipped, it may not be any cheaper even with the discount. Plus since they have a warehouse in Wisconsin, they charge me sales tax, so I dont get any internet advantage there. I dont know if that was the case with you.

So you saved 13 dollars. Is that worth the wait?

The multiple ship locations always ends up getting me. I dont understand why rock auto does that. They have lost alotta sales from me because of that. For one item major purchases, they can be hard to beat sometimes, but I still do almost all my shopping local though. I like to see what I buy before I buy it, especially with auto parts. To much room for error in the catalogues for me to trust them(been there done that too many times!!!).

since im at least 30 minutes from any local parts store.....we dont have oreillys around here...and during the week im usually too busy to go anywhere but work and home...

and yes i do shop around. typically rock auto is must cheaper then anything i can get around here
