I have a buddy of mine that told me his dad is ready to give up on his IDI. 1987 F2504x4 ext cab, C6, 3:55's, Banks turbo. This truck walked the dog in its day, a reputable shop breathed on it and it ran well before most knew a diesel could run well.LOL Had a Warn enforcer bumper, aftermarket wheels and tires. This guy bought it, put stock steelies on it and beat every straight piece of sheetmetal out of it.;Really It's been a clapped out off road farm truck for 6-8 years now and he is "looking to get a bit more than scrap value out of it." It looks like its been rolled down a 500' hill, not a salvageable piece on the whole body, inside or out. The complete drive train, running gear and frame is probably very workable. I'm thinking ditch the body and go over the whole thing and find a cheap, clean F150 for donor sheetmetal later on down the road.:dunno I'm thinking a $400-500 truck at best, I'm guessing this guy is thinking $650 in scrap so his is worth $800-900.:rolleyes: This is gonna be interesting. I will keep you posted....

"You can set my truck on fire, and roll it down a hill, and I still wouldn't trade it for a coupe deville."

Someone took it too literally. Haha

If the frame and drivetrain are in good shape, I think you have a good idea with getting it as cheap as you can then later snagging a cheap truck for the sheet metal. Could be a fun project...and, yes, please post pics!!

i guess it would not be realistic to to offer the body for him to scrap and drop the price since you will be ditching it anyway?

does he need some tree work? LOL

I have been toying with a couple of ideas. The ext cab long bed frame could make a single cab truck with two beds grafted to make one 10' pickup bed. I also thought of taking the 6.9 and making an F150 econo miser. I have toyed with a 6.9 Explorer, 1992 ish boxy style. I have a 1946 Studebaker flat bed dump, thought about using the '87 with that to make something.

I want a cheap project, something that doesn't HAVE to be together come Monday morning to make it to work.
