You're right, that's because when it's empty, you can never really "load the motor", but when it's loaded the lower gearing does help. I only really feel the added fuel when I'm in 5th gear. The RPM's are lower, the motor loads up a little and she feels great.

What I really need is an O/D gear to get the RPM's down on the highway, it'll load the motor some more, and get me at least 8-10 more MPH. I also want a few more gears in between to get rid of the lag in the wide gaps between gears.
