I finally decided to mount a pyro in my 83 NA after reading recent threads here, this is a common low cost probe I want to buy, I want to drill a hole in my exhaust pipe just after the manifold, I understand it can be a simple hole with something wrapped around the probe and pipe, can I make this probe work like that? Without having to tighten the nut from inside the pipe, I am not going to disassemble the (29 YO) exhaust system to do this.

I drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold.

I would say thats the easiest way to do an egt probe.

1) its closest to the cylinder (most accurate reading)

2) its simple. no welding. all you do is drill and then tap for National Pipe Tread.
