I tried to put a bungy on the gate and pull towards the front of truck, not very tight don't want to hurt anythjng but I feel like I should be making more boost and I think back pressure is making waste gate leak only seeing 10psi currently. Waste gate Is not connected to boost right now custom set up so nowhere to hook it up yet. Will simply tightening it properly help it not leak?. I have a 90cc pump with stage1's and factory turbo with banks compressor housing, 60-1 wheel mod and banks 2 3/4 exhaust and 4 exhaust after. 3 inch intake tubing and specter filter currently a little now dirty but searching for large paper filter instead. And installed intercooler recently but I was only seeing 12 psi before. With my 088 ats I could hit 19-20 psi I feel like I should be seeing at least 15? That's all I want/need. Just replaced fuel filter today. Not tons of black smoke either unless heavy acceleration from low rpms which should be expected. No obvious boost leaks. Intake hat seems to seep some but I don't think it's leaking with all new gaskets

Pretty sure you have a boost leak. Did some tuning on my pops 90 with an 093 and stock fuel and unhooked the the wastegate from boost to see what it would hit and got 16psi with the clutch slipping in fourth. Any lower gear it just roasts the tires haha

Might as well check for leaks. You can build a adapter from some pipe fittings.
Basically you cap off the inlet to the turbo, screw in a air fitting to said cap, then give it air.

It's not the wastegate. With it unplugged, it won't open by itself as far as I can tell.

Check for exhaust leaks pre-turbo; those really screw up your boost.

Pre turbo exhaust leaks I've covered pretty well now hopefully unless something else came up now, it's sounds like my turbo is spooling the the moon and back. I almost think my intake hats leaking at higher pressures. I'm gonna try and tighten the waste gate down maybe tap the hat for a air fitting and connect it today. Since I installed cooler it seems like I've been slowly loosing power idk why that would be? I'm trying to go through everything now, I do have fuel leak from line right after lift pump that maybe playing a factor here as well. New line installing today. More updates soon

Just replaced fuel line, however I did just discover my throttle cable has broken its sleeve and appears to have a lot of play now I'm going to have to replace and see wht happens. It was a cheap from discount auto. Lesson learned again cheap parts never seem to work out long

Fuel line shows no leaks! Valve cover at shop being cleaned and prepped for painting. @Thewespaul im thinking boost guage is not working or line pinched somewhere inspecting now. Throttle cable slack taken care of now intake tightened. Only showed 7psi on highway run max at 2800 rpms but I went from 30-75 in basically no time at all pulling stronger than It ever has, turbo screaming like 6.0. Something must be wrong with the guage it's old isspro from junk yard that used to work but now questioning it. I do have another that's 0-15 I may try later but I think that was was having issues as well like 2 years ago it's been sitting

Which way do I adjust the wastegate? Like make the arm longer or shorter to adjust it to higher boost?

When I took the gate off it had like no spring pressure on it at all idk if it's supposed to but I tightened it down like 1/2 inch now so we will see shortly if it was leaking from back pressure

You might have a broken boost gauge line? Check it over, both ends and anywhere it could have rubbed through or melted.

Boost hose never hooked up haven't made a port for it yet, its adjusted down now though. im planning on replaceing all my guages when my return checks come back so I'm gonna keep busy with some other projects on it this week. Maybe I should start a build thread on my truck soon instead of starting a bunch of random threads?

Buddies 6.9 with factory turbo setup on it. WW installed. Wastegate hooked up it would stop at 10. Unhooked hose to wastegate, hit 14 barely. Wiretied gate closed with some bailing wire, hit 16 now. No other changes done.

Are you looking to permanently lock out the factory wastegate or just temporarily for testing purposes?
