How to identify a Motorcraft lift pump

I just purchased a replacement lift pump for my 1997 Powerstroke. It is supposed to be a Motorcraft brand. How can I verify that it is Motorcraft? I have heard that many of the replacement pumps are junk and only Motorcraft seems to hold up.

If it is Motorcraft it will have "Motorcraft" cast on it.

Good morning DaveBen,

I bought the pump on Amazon, the ad said Ford Pump ASY, the selling Dealer was Gene Messer Ford of Amarillo. The ad said Brand "Ford", but I do not see any Ford or Motorcraft writing cast into the pump.

I am concerned because I do not want it to fail suddenly like many people have said they do. My original pump went 230,000 miles. I replaced it last summer because it was leaking with a pump from Rock Auto. The replacement is already leaking. It is enough of a pain in the butt to change that I would rather not continue changing it!
