Just like the title says.
Anyone out there have a IDI in pieces that can tell me how many teeth are on the gear that bolts to the injection pump?
I'm trying to retrofit a IDI tach and sensor onto a different engine.

Lots...:rotflmao Its the same amount as the cam gear and the crank gear has half of that... Funny how things just work together isn't it. The reason the count is like this is simple. If one of these gears had an odd number of teeth the timing would never be correct. Two turns of the crank equals one turn of the cam and injection pump gear....:sly

OK Thanks
So the cam spins at half of the crank speed, so a gear with 53 teeth on the crankshaft would give an accurate tach reading.

Ok, but we still do not know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie-Roll Pop.
