What rearend ratio? 3.55 or 4.10 or aftermarket? Factory sixe tires? 4x4 or 2wd? Standard or auto? T19, or ZF? C6 or E4OD? DRW or SRW? Crew cab or regular cab? This will all play into the milage of the engine.
As to how far it can run....if you were making $5 an hour....you have more than enough time to save half of it and have enough money to buy a new truck when the 6.9 finally dies....in other words...they are one tough mother if looked after.
My 7.3 (which is a bored out 6.9) had 400 000 kilometers on it....roughly 250 000 miles and it still runs perfectly.
I would say that with your truck, assuming it has a good pump and injectors with proper timing......mid to high teens?
If it helps, my truck in the signature below gets about 19-21 MPG. Although with the winter fuel and big mud treads I am seeing lower numbers....17 - 18 MPG now.
