is it normal for oil pressure to get this high on the gauge?

I have a mechanical gauge and it will read about 56-58psi when on high idle and really cold out. What temp is it doing that in? I personally wouldn’t worry though

Funny thing is it reads around R in normal when I first fire it up and then the pressure rises even further once warmed up

I haven’t done testing to verify but I have seen a lot of guys on here say the factory gauges don’t move accurately. I’ve seen them called glorified dummy lights many times lol. Get you a set of mechanical gauges to know for sure what’s going on with your motor

I would not worry about it. That gauge is nothing but a fancy oil pressure warning light. It just tells you that you have some oil pressure, but nothing more. The gauge in my truck can read to the left, right or in the middle at any given time. I have a good electric gauge on the pillar pod that tells me what the actual oil pressure is.
