Its my BIL's... I act as crew cheif for them.

My brother-in-law and myself do most all the work on the truck except for fabrication and engine. We have some specialist for that.

Just some off-hand info about the truck...

Its a Ford Ranger
I-beam front end - 20" of travel
Solid axle rear - spooled - 24" travel
Weismann 6 speed - manual transmission
4.5 liter V-6 Ford motor - 540HP / 325ftlbs TQ

Our top speed racing down a dry lake bed 129mph...
It starts floating real bad at that point... but we can run in 2ft whoops all day long at around 80-90 mph.

Its a fun hobby!!!:D

Good lookin' 7 truck.

If I could afford to do it right, that's all I'd do.

I have to settle for playing with someone else's, but that's fun, too. :D

Thanks for the compliments....:thanks:

We have a blast doing it... my nephew is the one who does the driving... he's 21.. He's also one of our fabricators... but we do most of the testing and setup. My BIL is the co-driver/directions giver.

We're building a Trophy truck right now. Even though were 7 unlimited, were still limited...

So the trophy truck should be ready to begin racing next season... Its going to be a Ford body. Ford Motor... lots of little Wiesmann tricks....

We estimate that it will have about 25" of travel all the way around. All independent suspension... It will actually weigh less than the Ranger.. The Ranger weighs around 5500#'s

Our motor guy is building the motor right now.... All aluminum - 3 sandwich eatin - 800+HP - get out of my way before I run you over ..... kind of thing.:D

I will try to get pictures of it posted.

Big K, Off-road racing is a total blast, and your right, if you can't afford it just help out someone who has one... just being a part of the team is fun. We have some guy's that all we have for them to do is to hold the catch can for the fuel overflow, but you'd think that we were letting them drive or something.

One of these days I'll get to play with a TT. ;) I hope.

I'm a bit more fortunate than the catch can holder, as I get to herd it down the road, but I fully understand.

Been associated with this effort since '91. Kinda winding down now, as the owner is not as young as he once was. We had a good run from '99-'02. Went 9-10 in mixed metal with VORRA and BORE. 8 BORE wins in a row. Sometimes broke, sometimes not. Some by 30+mi. Twice first on the clock, but second in, or in the dust of the first car on the road.

I've never been involved in any kind of motorsports that I have enjoyed more.

I would assume that you plan to participate in the BITD series, what with the Ford and all? Stay in touch, and maybe I'll get down there for one of the races.

BTW-are you familiar w/the "Fire Guys" effort? Can't remember whether they're 7 or 7s? They have run in the BORE races, and also make it further south.

Big K,

Yes were doing mainly BITD... They have a better payout for racing a Ford. We also race SCORE, but only the in state races. Mexico has gotten to be nuts. It used to be you could give everyone stickers to the Federalies and be passed along, now they want hats and t-shirts and beer, well they always wanted beer also but now its not just a can... they want to the whole case.

We were the BITD Class 7 champs for 2002. In 2003 we started changing some things to try to go faster. The main thing was the tranny. Switched to a G-force 5 speed manual and had nothing but problems... We now run the Weismann 5-speed and its tough.

The Fire Guys?? I don't recall ever hearing of them but I will have to look at the next race... Alot of times they are racing in a different class and you just don't pay attention to who's who.

We really like off-road racing also, An ever changing course, in terrain, elevation & conditions. I like driving also and being crew chief and chasing them from pit to pit is alot of fun. In the Vegas to Reno race I put on more miles in the chase truck than they did in the race truck.

There were a couple of racers that sort of did that for a pre-run. They went down and rented an Expidition, got full coverage on insurance, then pre-ran the course in it. I know the guy took it back with major damage to the under body....:D :D

They told him that he could never rent another vehicle from them ever again. :D

The other guy took one back with all the tires filled with fix-a-flat. It threw the balance on the tires off so bad that you couldn't drive it over 45mph....
