HELP truck died in middle of the road

X3 on grounds.
Even that diagram looked like the ignition power went through it.

The regulator just needs that key on power to know when to 'turn on'. Think of it as a signal wire, not a pass through destination...

So just run a ground wire from a negative battery terminal to anywhere on the cab?

Yelp. I found a bolt on the cab under the hood. Put an eyelet on the wire then ran it over to the battery

Truck is fixed!!!! The grey plug with the green and yellow wires was the culprit. I took the plug apart to check for corrosion and it was melted a little inside and corroded. Picked up some fully insulated spade terminals to make new connections. Truck runs and starts fine now, I was not able to find anything else wrong.
