I rarely pull more than 3000 with my truck, although I think I recall that it red lines 200-400 RPM higher than that--it just seems that to go higher puts me into an area of diminishing returns. I don't get much extra OOMPH for the additional revs. If I am trying for maximum acceleration, I generally shift about 3000 or so. By the time I am approaching 3000, I am pulling 7 or 8# if boost--which is all my truck will do.

I wonder if your pump timing has a bearing on your situation??

Throttle linkage?
Get the wife to jump in and hold it to the floor,
with the motor off ;p and check to see it
pulls all the way at the pump. Just a thought.
Just went through that with my Mack.

Fuel filters are cheap, go ahead and change it.

Mine loses power at the top end when the fuel filter is dirty.

Yup, try a filter, top end power is the first thing you'll notice when the filters start to get dirty.
I wonder what all affects operation of the governor in the pump. My truck defuels at about 3700, has a 91 7.3 IP, 7.3 injectors, and the pump is timed fairly agressively.

my 94 has a fuel filter light. It's near the over temp light and wait to start light and water in fuel light. There's four lights in there.
