Heat soak? maby not!

My ip was suffering from heat soak but now it isstarting when at temp. it starts hard but it starts i soaked it in atf for 2 days then ran a mix of 1/2 atf hydrolick fluid and 1/2 fuel oil. ran it like that for 70 miles shut it down came back 20 min later dumped water on it and ran 70 miles back home shut it down 30 min later when out hit the key and she cranked for about 15-20 sec and started. with no water to cool the IP. so is my problem fixing it self or do i still need to replace the IP?

i had that happen with my last uhaul sale ip and looking back that thing was toast from day 1.

15-20 second hot starting after a long heat soak is better than what I had to deal with, I would literally have to let the truck cool down an hour after that happened!

that just isn't right when you think about it, and I wouldn't trust my truck or drive it like that. plus many say dumping cold water on a hot pump can break things inside and leave you stranded.

when your pump is working and things are hot like that, i get the best and quickest starts on my truck. i have gone dirtbike riding and let the truck sit in the shade for hours, then come back and hit the starter with no glowplugs and its like an instant start.

having experienced that crap once, the first sign i see it happening again I know its new ip time for me.

if the truck has to crank for 15 to 20 sec to start there is most def a problem, mine starts in about 1-2 seconds all the way down to 19 degrees with no block heater, warm restart I don't even wait on plugs at all

When it is cold it fires in less than a second down as low as 0f this last winter but I guess I'll be sending it back to oldbull sohe can send another this way.
