Hauling a LOAD!

At work there was a big pile of rough cut 8' 4X6 oak lumber. It was used as cribbing for the tower transformers when they were delivered. Now that all of the transformers are set, they're not needed for anything. I asked my GF if I could have some and he told me, "I piled those up there for firewood, but take all you want." That's a price anyone can love.
So I filled up my bed today after work with them. As I was leaving I thought, 'I oughtta see how much my truck weighs loaded down.' There's an ODOT scale about three miles south of where I'm working. I swung in there and all I can say is HOLY CRAP! My truck weighs about 6800 lbs. full of fuel with me in it. I'm down to about half a fuel load right now and the F250 tipped the scales at 9400 lbs! It's an HD, which means my gross is 8800 lbs, but that number surprised me quite a bit.
I've got about 60 oak 4X6s in the bed:

As usual, this picture doesn't do this shot justice. I just installed a two inch body lift, and I'm guesstimating the bed is sitting about four inches lower than normal:

The best thing about this is while I can tell I'm hauling some weight, I was able to get up to 60 mph without a problem. Built Ford tough indeed.

67 4x4s, (Yeah, I counted. Wanna fight about it? XD), 4.15 to 6.45 lbs per foot of oak, 8 feet of 4x4 each

2197 lbs on the low side, 3457 on the high side. More than likely on the low side as contruction-grade wood is always dried out, and would not have the additonal weight of water, to any mentionable degree.

Where did the transformers come from. Wondering what type oak you have there?

I think they were manufactured in Wisconsin? I'm not 100% sure.
I don't have any idea what type of oak it is, but it sure is heavier than fir. I'd estimate each piece weighs at least 40 lbs.

Be a shame to turn that into firewood, but it sure does burn nice. I sell a bit of firewood on the side to the few interested customers down here in FL(more than you'd think though!) and oak is what everyone wants. Ours are probably a lot less like true hardwood than what you had in your truck there. Now live oak is just like that, very dense and just sort of smolders. 2600-3000lbs not a bad load or an IDI. A full cord never makes mine even squat. These things are awesome.
