Yes, they only are on for around 10 seconds when you turn the key on
Under cold conditions, less when hot

What turns them off after doing my head gaskets I think they stayed on bc the harness started smoking well the truck was running

Maybe the wires were hooked up wrong? Can you take a picture of the top of the glow plug relay?

That appears to be wired correctly. I used this diagram to convert my GP system to manual after having the controller strand my truck for a few days.

Another question well I'm thinking about it I put my injectors in with new copper crush rings at 35lbs one of them is leaking up around the base any thoughts of how to fix that?

The small black wire is supposed to be grounded to the head, yes.

Since it looks like the plug further down the hardness burned up, I am guessing that something happened inside that plug. Maybe the plug cracked internally and let some of the pins touch each other?

Did you blow any fuses?
