good gauge spots for 94, pillar?

Well I already have a piro and boost gauge mounted above my rear view mirror but wanted to add a few more before a trip to 12 hours of sebring in 5 weeks. What places have you guys found that work well for mounting gauges? Is there a good pillar mount I can buy that will fit my 94?

Also, what gauges would you recomend I add? Was thinking water temp, oil pressure and not sure what else.

ya i got my pillar mount from summit. fits good. but its black. i didn't feel like trying to match it with the faded interior. dont really notice it though. they do make full pillar mounts that match though. i was also buying a gauge to match my pyro so thats why i got it from summit. might be cheaper elsewhere though.

Autometer makes a triple gauge A-pillar pod for your rig. With your E4OD tranny........I'd put a tranny temp gauge on the list for sure.

HESUTTON, read my sig again, that E4OD is holding a boat down somewhere, there's a wrist shaker in there now.

Any idea which one is better, autometer or the summit pod? Both 3 gauge pods?

Great to hear......I just saw E4OD there and assumed the worst. Then I'd recommend a voltmeter and/or a fuel pressure gauge.

you can see where i put my gages before i installed my piller. actaully i still have most all of them hooked up. i hate cutting up stock dashes so i put them were i removed my ash tray.

If I could go back I'd do a reg piller mount but this work for me. Trans temp & fuel pressure are the next 2 gauges on the list.

Well I think I'll go with the 3 gauge pillar mount. The one from summit is made by autometer, it is $61, kinda pricey for plastic. Is that the one you guys have? I'm calling several other places to see if they can get it cheaper.

The gauges I have now are ISPRO from the e-gauges website, from my quick bit of looking electronic gauges are twice the price of mechanical, I assume mechanical is better anyway? Any problems with fitting all the mechanical lines in the pillar?

I think I wills start with a water temp gauge, oil pressure and fuel pressure. What pressure ranges should I look for for oil and fuel?

Rob, I think many of the guys on here will discourage some mechanical guages. I know I would not want a mechanical fuel guage INSIDE the cab of the truck...... since there is fuel being pumped to the guage. I am not sure that I would want hot oil or coolant being pumped in there either... When I put on guages they will more that likely be electronic guages if for no other that a safety reason. I dont want fuel, or hot oil and water inside the truck with me or my family. If an electronic has a connection failure (broken wire) the guage just stops working. If a mechanical guage has a connection failure (Broken feed line of blown connector) you now have whatever is being measured leaking, or spraying into the cab. Just a thought.....

Rob, don't put a mechanical fuel pressure gauge in the cab. It is not DOT legal in most states and it a bad idea in general. If is leaks or the line breaks, it will spit fuel all over the cab and you......not a great idea while rolling down the highway. I've actually never seen a mechanical fuel pressure gauge that didn't come with a "mount out side of vehicle only" warning. That is actually printed on the face of Autometer's mech. fuel pressure gauges.

The same is true for hot coolant and hot oil coming into the cab. It can be a bit of a hazard. Travis had a very fun experience with hot oil filling the floor board of his cab. Everyone has a personal preference........but, my only mechanical gauges are my Boost gauge and my air pressure gauge.

A 15psi fuel pressure gauge is fine and a 100psi oil pressure gauge is all your need.

Well that is good to know, I was under the impression that electronic ones were never accurate. Guess like most everything else they have probably come along way in accuracy.

Isn't the mechanical coolant gauge a copper wire wound inside steel wire? I have never seen a gauge where coolant actualy goes to the guage, it would be cold on the other end of the line???

You can put a fuel pressure gauge in the cab as long as you buy the isolator for it. I have a Ford racing FP gauge for my Ranger drag truck - it came with the isolator to keep the fuel out of the cockpit. Here'smy setup, all autometer Z series.
