hi, got a quick question, will a bellhousing and tranny from a 300 six fit onto a 302 V-8 without a problem.

my sister is parting out a 85ish 150 with a 4 speed, i dont know if it is a T-18,19 or a NP-435 but i figure that is beside the point. I am just wondering if i should get it to swap a 302 in my Willy's pickup.

thanks

You might want a second opinion, but I think it will work. A local kid here did it, but I think he went on up to a 351 Cleveland. I am certain it was 6 to 8.

Aren't Cleveland & Windsor both smallblock bellhousings?

That's what I love about my Bowtie's. Everything from 1963 to the turn of the century bolts together, with minimal distraction. ;Poke

thanks, i think you are right about the cleveland and windsor, its the modified that is a FE block.

I go to agree with the great interchangability of a GM, something Ford could have done better on. thanks for helping

351M - 400 AKA "modified is the 400 cleveland tall deck block, similar to the 351C, with a 351 crank (basicly a bastarized destroked 400 that the cool hi-po 351C goodies like intakes and headers don't fit without serious modifications). IIRC it uses the 429 / 460 bellhousing not the FE.

Been a long time since I've did swaps so I don't remember the Ford stuff too well.

I probably would have missed it, if it wasn't in the wrong section. ;Poke

The only reason I know diddly about it, is that a kid I knew dropped a 302 in place of a 300. He ended up with a 351C, after he grenaded the 302. The 351C belonged to a buddy of mine, ad was stored in my shop, when it sold.

The 300 shares the bell with the 302, 289, and 351W. The M class share bells with the 460, FE stands alone with a round bell like a Chrysler...
