Yeah, the topic is beat to death right now, but I still have a couple questions. I'm putting new Motorcrafts in early next week and took out 6 of the 8 today to make sure they came out no problem. What is the best way to get the glow plugs out of cylinders 3 and 4 without removing the injector lines? My deep socket doesn't leave room for a ratchet. Do you use a crows foot? u-joint? I'm just trying to see what you guys are doing to try to save myself some headaches.
Also, what does black soot on the tip of the glow plugs indicate? 5 of the 6 removed were motorcrafts, 2 of which were bad. The other was an autolite, but it still works
I was kind of surprised they were faulty since they were motocrafts, but they could be original for all I know. No plugs were swelled or mushroomed so I'm pretty happy about that, but all had soot fairly thick on them.
