My family took a trip to the twin cities over the long weekend, well Delano is where my family lives, but we spent allot of our time in St Paul. Went to the MN state fair and had allot of fun when we weren't working on my moms truck, thanks Towcat and RLDSL for being so helpful even after I'd gotten to the point of wanting to put the truck down like a lame horse.

But after the weekend was over my uncle took us aside and told us he had some stuff he wanted us to take with us home. We left with a super nice reclining couch that is less than 2 years old, and the two goodies pictured below. A Ford 9" rear axle out of a 70 or 71 SCJ Gran Torino, limited slip diff with 3:80 gears.

Almost looks to be reverse turn. But its a 200 amp alternator that he pulled from an early 90's ambulance with a 7.3. Not sure if we need it for anything yet but its a nice little option to have.

Damn, Shaun, I wish Ida known You'd be in th e TC's. We were down there doing some school shopping. Over the weekend. Went to the Mall Of America. Debated going to the Fair, but didn't.

Yea, I'd have loved to get to meet you and ZPD over the weekend. Just had too much crap going on with working on my moms truck and spending time with my aunt and uncle. My ex GF, who I'm still friends with, works at IKEA and my brother and I spent all of Monday with her. Just too much stuff going on. Hopefully next time guys.

That rear end is not from a 70-71 Torino. 70-71 Torinos had leaf spring rear suspensions. That appears to be from a 72 or newer Torino (or other types of Ford cars, but I wont bore you with those details)

Thats what the guys on my camaro forum are telling me too. I guess its very possible. It's been years ago since they've had the car and you know how people get when they get... old. lol I could really care less about it having leaf or coil spring perches because they'd get cut off regardless of what they were. Any 9" ford rear with a performance gear ratio and locking diff to boot are extremely rare these days. Atleast around here they are so I was more than excited to get one for free.

The alternator is not a reverse-turn unit, really the easiest way to figure that out on any accessory is look a the pulley - if it has ribs it's a straight-turn, if it's smooth then it's the back of the serpentine belt rides on it and causes a reverse-turn. This is all based on having a ribbed crank pulley, but I'm yet to see one that ain't...

200 amp ambulance alternator? what specifically can identify if its a 200 amp?

That's what ambulances got, 200-amp alternators, whether made by Leece-Neville or some German company that I forgot the name of. You can count grooves on the pulley too - IIRC there should be 7 or 8 of them.
