It's funny that you mention it ..

i'm actually crawling under the truck this afternoon to pack my TOB with grease ..

I was thinking about using wheel bearing grease this time , since it's stickier than the tube grease i have that spurts into a zerk ..

I don't really think it matters though as long as it's greased .. i usually do it 2x a year .. but i don't recall hitting it this spring . so it's overdue ..

starting to make a little noise .. but grease'll fix it all up right .. and keep that clutch running smooth through the spring time . then i'll have to grease it again ..

i don't know how hard it is to get in there on a zf-5 .. it's kinda a pain in the a** to do on the T-19 .. but , beats dropping the tranny ..

actually it's not that bad .. it only takes 2hrs to complete the operation .. but for me it's something i put off and put off .. crawing under there and getting all greasy .

a T-19 is a lot easier than a ZF, ZF5's don't have a removeable bell housing.

grease grease plus more grease .. i did a write up on my TOB .. though .. you'rs is probably much different ..

Chinese bearings? If so putting a good grease in them should help a lot.

Kinda like cheap ass 1 ply vs good 2 ply toilet paper.....modify the application by adding more to keep finger tips clean....

I wish it was that easy to buy quality.

IdIoit is exactly right. All the throwout bearing manufacturers in the US have either closed or moved out of the country. I tried to get a bearing manufacturer out of Chicago to make us a T/O bearing for our most popular number. We use around 18,000 per year of one number so I offered to pay up front for one year and give them a PO for the next five years at the same quantity. They chuckled and said that I had to pay up front and take 100,000 bearings for them to make the bearing. Calculated out to 1.8 million dollars. Now realize this is for one bearing, one vehicle...we make clutches for ALL vehicles. America needs to wise up!

This sounds like a case where a closet industry could possibly exist. I wonder how hard it would be to make a Chinese bearing greasable? It's still a Chinese bearing but good grease and being able to service it is bound to be better than nothing. If it weren't such a ***** to test it....

I did not try to pack my LUK bearing when I put it in. I greased the shaft (splines and TOB slide both) lightly with a good moly wheel bearing grease.

That's the greaseable throw-out bearing I found...I bought it hoping against hope that it could be made to work with the ZF5, but there's no way. It's T-19 only, and I was under the impression that it's no longer available in any event.

I have one. it greases the slide portion most, the fork ferrule (by way of a groove in the tube nipple), and the bearing can pick up grease if some has drained out (the seals won't allow grease to squeeze out, so there's no way for old grease to be flushed out). I LOVE it, operation is smooth and easy.

For those with squeaky bearings I highly recommend checking your flywheel run-out, our crank flange bolt pattern makes this a problem. If you have a squeaky TOB and a "grabby" clutch , this is likely your issue.
