Gear indicator fix? (automatic tranny)

I dropped my steering column to mess with the ignition and didn't disconnect the gear indicator cable first.
It's still attached up in there but I guess I damaged the return spring? Anyone had the instrument panel apart to know if I can get in there to try to fix this without damaging something else?

By now you should have figured out your problem.
If you remove the two bolts holding the indicator in the dash, you will find it has a spring to the "P" position.
Research a "PRNDL Indicator" for your truck. You should be able to find a new one to stuff in there.

Great to know I can replace it. I got a broken cable on a cluster I'd like to use. Cable snapped in half. Or the guy wo got the column and spedo(with tach) broke it. Add it to the list of projects I don't have time for.
