gonna get the owners preference on either portapowering the firewall, or going down to 2.5"
if it was mine, id portapower it so it dont rattle...
but that can be seen as a hack job.
or i gotta pull the engine out and do it right.
not even the crushed type DP will fit.
anddddd the downpipe @ the hot side is 4.5"
may be better to even change the housing and put an exhaust brake on.....

I'd advise the customer, porta-power on the flange is SOP for the OBSers doing this. Not a hack-job, a "custom fitment adaptation". (Shoot, putting an IH DI turbo diesel in an '80s-design Ford cab/frame that was never intended for it could be called a "hack job". Didn't stop them in '94......)

How different is the firewall on the brick nose to the obs? I know the obs truck you have to trim down the pinch weld on the firewall to clear a 3 inch pipe.

dont think it makes a difference, but this is a 460 truck.
and a brick nose at that. ive never worked on a OBS so i dont know the difference.
i can get 3" pipe to slide down,but it touches the firewall, up pipe, and transmission..lol
i cut off the OBS crushed pipe flange to try to use, and its too damn small.
pinch welds already taken care off, and that stupid f'n shield they put in with rivets on the pass side.
looks like a porta power it is, i only have an issue with the middle part of the fire wall before it breaks inward twards the pinch weld.
i just dont want this thing to rattle.
but i did get the 99-03 bellowed up pipes on and the EPBV delete pedestal.
had to modify the intake because he has no room with AC and a inner cooler.

outside of the wiring, gasser or diesel cab firewall sheetmetal are all the same.

But what about the year difference if there is one? If there is not one then they sell a two piece down pipe for the PSD that is 3 inch. Suppose to make things much easier to install.

^^^^^ Diamond Eye is two-piece, and no direct experience, but everything I've read, the DE fits way better than the MBRP (Mounts, But Really Poorly) product.

A little off subject but me and my buddy just installed a MBRP exhaust on his 7.3 Super duty and it was easy and everything lined up. Didn't have to cut or modify anything. He got a 4 inch system from turbo back. I think most people just don't have the experience and make things complicated. Everyone told him the same thing and it was a breeze.
