I used 5/8" hose thinking that it was 3/4". I haven't tried a big nozzle yet, but it works fine with a small nozzle on full.

I have always had issues filling past the slowest a nozzel will go with out it trpping, only exception is the big truck ones that can go at a third its speed. The plan I came up with for when ever I get around to doing a 38 gal rear tank will be something like this. I would gut the fill tube of obstructions and the provide a better vent for the tank. Since the oem rollover has tiny hose, it has to go and might go with a inline one. Then use a marine tank vent drilled and mounted above the filler tube, as for 1in to 5/8in hose unsure.
