Ok it just started this and I have an idea what I think maybe the problem is but would like some other ideals the truck does not like to run at an even rpm it doesn't surge like air getting into the system its more of a falls off and then gains back what it had not real sudden like air in the system just falls on its face for a while then it picks back up. When accelerating it runs great and it never misses it just acts like you let off the throttle pedal even though you didn't the fuel filter light hasn't come on yet and as far as I can see it dosent leak fuel anywhere IP does have about 80k miles on it so let me know what you all think

Aric, you and I burn veggy so it maybe the same thing I had. I think it is because of the fuel/oil temps, it does not activate the fuel filter light but it does starve for fuel for a moment and the engine revs a bit as a reaction to make the lift pump pump faster and gain fuel again. That is my theory and is cured with hot fuel. I will post what I did to fix this on the biofuel forum.

Better yet, I think it could be fixed either better heat at the veggy tank, pump closer t the veggy tank, or a glow plug heater just don't use an autolite glow plug (this guy sure does not have an IDI  ) and use a beru (zd-9) instead.

btw that is assuming the problem is mainly while running veggy.

I went through this and I don't think it is the filter unless it's been in there for too long or you don't filter the veggy enough (but I remember You Aric said you get the oil really clean), it depends sometimes if you have an electric pump with a screen inside or if your oil temps are low, specially now temps are going down.

Well I will try a filter change eventually if my problem persits but when I ran it last winter when the fuel filter was starting to get pluged up the fuel filter light would come on and the truck had no strange symptoms switch back to diesel and the light would go out this is acting the same way with diesel or wvo and no light and if it was the fuel filter I would think it would act up more when I'm getting on it but it acts worse idleling and running slower get on it and it straightens right up if anything is pluged it maybe the screen at the suction line of the IP but I think the pumps sticking and causeing the problems I have forgot to add any power service lately so I'm gonna double doce her and see if it helps any

As you know, I am no diesel expert, but I am consider myself pretty competent with gassers, that being said, with a gasser when you get on it and raise the RPM's, with a mechanical pump, you are making more fuel which may overcome a partial clog. At a low even RPM, the clog could be more evident. Now I know this can be the case with a gasser, been there done that. With a diesel, not sure, with WVO, have no clue!!! :)

I have an inline fuel filter with biodiesel. I can always tell when its getting plugged. The truck acts liek it starves for fuel at idle for a long time before I have any problems at higher RPMs. It also restricts the fuel system, advancing the timing and leading toa ahrsher diesel noise. Often by the time I get around to changing the filtyer it lokks like somebody took a dump in the fuel filter. I'd change the filter and see what happens plus add some PS. Should straighten up. 80k miles ona reman pump isn't a lot unless the builder wasn't very good. The remans from what I have read tend to last a bit beyond that 100K mile mark that many of teh originals made adn passed.

well even no more then I've drove it after adding the power service it seems to be getting better already so I'm going to fill up the diesel tank double dose with PS again and see how it does

I just can't beleive its the fuel filter unless my restriction sensor is shot I've been running WVO mix for over 2 years and straight WVO for 1 year and when the filter starts getting plugged up the light starts coming on during heavy acceleration then finally it will stay on almost all the time but even then the truck runs fine it may be the filter but if it is I know my sensor has gone bad its also very random when it acts up but thats why I need some time to check these things out Thanks though Rob I'll definately keep it in mind

I've been running garbage fuel (35 year old diesel fuel mixed with WMO) in my truck for a couple months. A couple weeks ago my truck started acting like yours. THE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. When I pulled my filter I cut it open with a sawzall, it looked like someone puked in it :puke: Try the easy fix first.

Eric,
The symptoms you describe sound like when my injection pump was going south. I still ran my truck like that for about 10-20 thousand miles but after that it got bad enough for a rebuild.
There is a little piston on the side of the injection pump, there is a roller cam that pushes the piston in at high throttle. If you push the piston in (use flat screw driver to pry and push piston in) while the truck is idleing and there is no change in engine noise, that means your pump will need rebuilt. If the engine noise does change when you push the piston in, then your pump is not bad.
