my advice to you is to get a fuel pressure gauge. It will take out 90% of the guesswork. And two gauges are ideal- one before the filter and one after, to tell you if your filter is clogged or your lift pump is bad.

Remove the vacuum gauge on the filter outlet side and install a cheap $5.00 gauge with a 1/8th inch end on it. Start up the engine and see what it tells you.

Make sure it isn't grounding on anything. When I first put the used engine in my truck, the aftermarket banks old style turbo housing didn't play well with the 7.3 filter. It was rubbing on the filter head and causing the fuel filter light to come on intermittently.

the light is coming on because of a fuel issue not because a bad ground that would nice though if it something dumb like that:rotflmao

i think i figured it out there is a bunch of air bubbles in my in line filter. do you guys think that could cause that light to come on? if so how would one go about finding a air leak in the fuel line?

look at all that crap that was in the fuel pumps filter, that wasnt the problem though.... also check out the fancy tool i used to remove the fuel bowl on the the pump. i know some other people were woundering how to take that bowl off of the pump. the problem was the pre filter caused to much resistance on the fuel pump when runing wmo like 75% of it:D but with just diesel fuel it worked fine and it worked fairly good with 50/50 wmo.
