Front headlight question?

Hey guys i was wondering i have a 92 F250 4x4 single cab and i wanted to install either 99' superduty HALO headlights or 08' superduty HALO headlights, i was wondering if anyone has seen this or knows how to fabricate a fitting? Thank you

Wow... that is quite a jump. I am not sure how that would work. Is this just a "light bulb" type change or are you talking about the entire housing..... Just a bulb change if they run the same bulb, which I think they do... a 9004. it is doable. But to mount a superduty headlight into an OBS truck.... that would be a challenge. I have an 03 Superduty (Excursion) and the headlight housing on it, vs an OBS headlight is very different. You may be able to swap over the housings, and the buckets from a superduty, but they would not match up very well with the lines of an OBS. Also, doing an entire doghouse changeover would probally be out also since the SuperDuty is much bigger than an OBS...... would present a neat chalenge, and if decide to do it, lots of pics please....

actually the gen 9's take a 9007 , the gen 8's take a 9004

thats not a smartass comment at all. at the bus garage i worked at half of the drivers called the reverse lamps rear headlights. took me a second when i first read that they had a rear headlamp out.

there actually was (possibly still is) a company that makes a conversion kit to use SD parts on the 92-97 F-series trucks. i have only see two truck with the swap and it was both of the companies trucks. lemme do a little digging and see what i can find.

AFAIK the only legal aftermarket headlights available for OBS trucks are similar to these: http://www.lmctruck.com/features/fd/fdelh.htm

I'm not sure what real benefit you'd get from SD headlights compared to those; OTOH, I've never taken a close look at SD headlights....if you want to try it, I think you'll be the first, and you certainly have your work cut out for you.

BTW, just to cover all bases, I'm going to say this...I sincerely hope you're not wanting to put HID lights in

Personally i just like the look of the RECON 08' superduty HALO headlights and i measured it out and it would be tight but if you got some sheat metal and painted it that would make up for the empty space thats there...any other options??? oh and thank you all for your comments ill let ya'lll know if i decide to...oh one other thing the reuck is a flatbed os i already have led taillights

So you want to use the WHOLE 08 headlight housing? Not just the bulbs?

Not to steal the thread, but does anyone have a report to offer on replacement stock headlights that don't suck walnuts? I've got two trucks here and even with new (stock) housings and bulbs I can't see anything at night. The cars behind me project my trucks shadow in front of me. My lights look like candles compared to the more modern cars and trucks. Do the Eurocrystal lights mentioned above work any better?

if the plastic on yours is faded or cloudy, it's time for new housings.
I have a set of DOT aftermarket units on mime and they lasted for five years before starting to develop internal checking. plus side is the silvering had a dark tint to it when the lights weren't lit, so the effect was almost like a blackout appearance. I'd try the euro style as long as they are focused properly but I don't think they will last as long as the DOT style before they lens start having problems.

I firmly agree with you about focusing them properly!! And, why do you think the lenses on the Euros won't last as long? FWIW some people on the TDIClub forums were talking about this stuff...they were talking about it doing a very good job (if applied properly) of protecting plastic headlight covers from scratches, rock damage, and such...I'm not sure how well they'll work with UV protection (which I'm guessing is what causes the yellowing), but figured it couldn't hurt to try? Of course, this won't protect the inside...

The bad part about some of the aftermarket housings is that the chrome inside tends to blacken and flake off leaving very little reflective surface

I wish there were a way to get glass housings. It would solve all the yellowing problems. They would probably break easier but I think other than that they would be great.
