Ok I installed a nice clean steel tank in Big Blue Ox today....took some effort..read blue ox thread for details.

Now I am wondering if the tank in 92 which is plastic might have a greater capacity....I am thinking so visually...but really cannot say.

Anyone know plast vs steel front tank capacities?

Only thing I am seeing is a 22 gal 87 L tank w E4OD which this truck in question had.

So

a Plastic tank.
b With R.P.O. skid plate.
c 4x4 without E4OD and all 4x2.

Looks like I will be pulling the plastic tank and seeing if it can fit where my steel tank resides.

Next would be like a 40 gal SD tank perhaps...for rear...

Thanks for looking

the front poly tanks are larger than the steal tanks.they are 23 gallons.iv got one in chip truck.try and save the straps.you can't buy them anywhere.i was able to save one and had to cut down another to make it fit when i had to replace tanks due to a puncture hole, years back.

Poly are always larger?
My 94 powerstroke came with poly front and rear.
There's a larger sd front tank also. I believe @lindstromjd did it here.

I was only aware of 19 and 16 gallon tanks (smaller on SWB). I'll have to be on the lookout for one of these 23 gal plastic tanks, would love to carry more fuel. Have the rear 38, and I'll take as big as can fit with ground clearance for the front.

interesting, this explains why I was surprised when I saw a plastic front tank in my 96 F350 4x4 when I cut it up. was expecting a steel tank , I guess its nothing special after all.

The outlets on plastic tank are different ...YET again....just browsed at them quick like

Tomorrow I am pulling the sending unit on 22 gal tank to compare to the other tanks.

Looking like it will be fun job...NOT ...seeing if it fits.

I will keep working on this till I have an answer.....

Nice tank Al. Always good to be able to carry more fuel in the same area so to say...

is that the 22g or a larger sd tank?

I prefer plastic too, but I found these in my "should be close enough to make it work" search

30 beats 20 and should tuck up in there better than the 40g sd

another Idea I've kicked around is adding passenger side tank with a duralift and toggle switch to refill while going down the road.
