it would help if we knew exactly what chassis you plan on stuffing the motor into.a friend of mine has an 87 f650 that he stuck a 3208 into.

3208 reaches maximum piston surface speed at 3880 rpm's. I know this is correct but I sure as hell cant tell you why I remember it. Probably from Arizona tech racing guy I used to know.
The ford f7000 service truck I drove had an na and it pulled best at 2800 to 3100, best economy was 1600 to 1800. It weighed 26k,

maybe i am going about it wrong but i was going to build everything around the engine and it's optimal MPG and hp to torque rpm ranges

The thing had like 2.73 gears and 44 inch swampers it was a wonder it even got going. I guess pure torque and converter slippage.

It's called double overdrive transmission.

Do the math.... 2.73 rear with a 44 inch tire, with a .50 OD is 1250 RPM @ 120 MPH.. Plug the numbers in any calculator if don't feel like doing the math. You will be suprised.

The chart is kind of hard to read but 1251 RPM at the bottom is very easy to see.

i am wanting to use a turboed 6.9 and put a jet nozzle on it

Mercruizer did use the Powerstroke and maybe still does, for a number of years. So getting an outdrive hooked up shouldn't be much of a problem.
