The movement in the column when using the clutch could be a broken firewall. Common problem on these trucks and there is a fix for it but it is time consuming.

Also, when test driving one of these, make sure that they haven't started the truck beforehand to let it warm up. Ideally when you start it, it should be the first start of the day. If there's a problem with hard starting, they may be hiding it by starting it and letting it run before you show up.
