Finding TDC which and where

I'm getting ready to pop some valve stem seals on my 92 f350 7.3.
Which hole is #1 ( drivers side or passenger side ) and what combination of degrees rotation and cylinders do I have to shoot for to catch all of these at tdc?

Visually it's kind of hard to tell by looking at the rockers.

OK, Give me the DUH award , I found the numbers on the manifold after getting the junk out of the way
Skip that part, but the rest would be handy.
Already got #1 exhaust off, the umbrella seal was toast.

#1 is at the front of the engine on the passengers side. TDC is when a piston is at the top of it's travel with both valves closed(compression stroke) You can be sure of #1 when the line on the harmonic dampener (on the front of the crankshaft) is aligned with the "0" mark and line on the timing pointer below the alternator and just next to the harmonic balancer.

I filled the cylinders with compressed air when i did mine. I'd also recommend replacing the springs.

I've been using the air trick as well, just wanted to know the tdc in case I was having trouble getting the keepers popped put of one.Didn't want to pop it so hard I knock it in the hole...that would be bad

I had one broken spring that I'm replacing ( when it gets here ) . I didn't want to invest in a whole set. I'm doing this to see if it will take care of a serious oil burning problem. If it doesn't , I'm probably going to get a long block and swap it in, so I didn't want to invest too much in it as it sits.We'll see what happens, the seals were in pretty bad shape.

Lemmeno how it works ok. I've got a 6.9 block that's burning quite a bit of oil too. I know it's leaking some, but I'd be willing to put in seals too if that would cut down my oil usage some...

Well, I only planned on replacing one spring, but when it came in , the parts store got a whole set from the warehouse and I talked them into giving me a price match to an online deal for the whole set for only about $30 Saves them from having to send the rest back and I get a good deal ( as opposed to about $3 for one, works out pretty decent ) so Ill replace the whole lot of them now.
Naturally I've already done all but the last one, so I get to go back and re do the others.
at least I'm getting good at it right about now
