This is the steel line from my filter to IP (1st pic) I have the olives (2) for the IP side, now that I have removed it at the filter side it appears there are olives/o ring(s) on the filter side (2nd pic), , I have the olives for the IP side, I have nothing for the filter side, does this just re attach to the filter side, or do I need a new o ring/olive for the filter side, I have the IP side soaking in brake fluid now to remove the old, what do I do with the filter end? Trying to reinstall the IP tomorrow. What do I need to do to reattach the filter side?, there is a short rubber hose I could not remove between the filter end and the filter housing itself.

I have often found that the leak is actually caused by a crack in the line itself.

That is a low-pressure line; it would be better if it were rubber.

The vibration and the rigid line is what kills them; rubber would absorb the vibrations leak-free. ;Sweet

The steel line from the lift pump to the filter head is 3/8 tube. From the filter to the injection pump is 5/16 tube. At the fitler head the olive is for 3/8 line but the bottom of that line its a compression type fitting... no olive there... Yes... you can replave the line from the lift pump to the filter head with fuel rated rubber hose and it will be fine.... The pipe thread fitting at the filter inlet is 1/4 inch pipe threads... Not 3/8 threads like the line size... funny how that throttles the feed line to the filter by the restriction....

OK, I have about one inch of rubber line coming out of the filter head, this goes rearward, then there is a 90 degree metal "L" that the left of this line fits to, is this a compression fitting? Does this sound like it is stock? I realize things can be changed in 27 years, is there a rubber (olive/o ring) at the left end of the steel line I pictured that I need to change?

Here is my filter head, rubber line & 90 degree metal "L", my question is, do I need a rubber grommet at the "L" to connect it to the left end of the steel line I pictured in my first post?

That thing looks jacked up!

An air leak waiting to happen, I know you can replace the whole line with a metal flex hose, but I don't know all the details about it.

That sure doesn't look factory to me.

I would clean it up by just going rubber all the way. :)
