So hitting it with the air hammer and removal tool is not out of the question.

No problem with it coming loose when the engine is running, that's why it's left hand thread. The problem comes when you turn the engine off, and the clutch happens to be locked. That's a big heavy fan with a lot of momentum behind it.

I give mine a good 2 cycles of 2 seconds with a good air hammer.
I do not use loc-tite.
before my engine blew, I used anti sieze with the above tighten method, and it never came loose on me.

youre on the right track to be worried about it tho, if that fan comes off, it will take out your radiator and possibly fan shroud

Please don"t quote me, but somewhere I found a spec of about 200-220+/- ft-lb. To me, that is as tight as I can crank it with a long cheater in the confines of the engine bay.

So the consensus is pretty f***ing tight. That should be part of the tech section, right there.

I used a pair of 2ft wrenches to torque it back on, and I believe I used red Loctite. I thought I read in the manual that loctite is recommended.

I have the Ford tools if you want/need to borrow. Makes it 100 times easier to do.
