I use neversieze and tighten it tight, never comes off , so ,whatever your poison , pick it.

Loctite Blue on a Clean thread is all you need. The red 277 loctite requires 300 degrees to soften it or trying to unscrew a bolt 11/16 in siez will break off. So this is what you use on the a=hole that needs to be taught a lesson about parking too close or taking up way too many parking spaces. A few drops of that on a wheel stud and it will never come off without snapping off... I'm a devel at times... The important thing to remember when using a loctite material is get the threads clean. Then apply what you want. I think the torque on the fan nut is 175 lbs... And remember they are left hand threads. It tells you this on the fan shroud...

yeah, like I said, I would love to put on an electric fan. I may look and see if they are available anywhere locally and the cost. You are right, now is the time to change it, I just don't know if there is room in the budget. I'll see what they run.

Dig around for electric fans in the forum there are several threads on this subject.

Iill be doing my best to get my fan shroud back on track that I"m working on.

One thing do you have the TALL narrow rad or the SHORT wide rad? one is about 37" wide...the other is about 31" wide...

The objective is to create a marketable base shroud part; that people can purchase and mod for fans of their choice using their fans and controller as well. This eliminates modding the factory shroud which IMHO is more difficult than what I'm going to try to offer.

i use the permatex red on my front arrowcraft dually wheel adapters.iv had to remove them a couple times for front end work.the first time i don't recall what i was doing,the second was to put on some upgraded rotors.the way their made,you can't even use get a socket on 'em.have to use a wrench.i just put the wrench on,and smack it with a 3lb and they free up and turn right off.not easy or anything cus that's what the stuff is for lol,but you don't need to be hulk hogen to turn the wrench or anything,and grabbing the torch was never a thought either time.so im not sure where the fear is with red loctite personally,im not afraid of the stuff.it's not jb weld type stuff or anything in my experience.
that said,i still think e-fans are the way to go,especially with a new rad going in,cus it's so easy to bolt on the windstar fan to a rad that's out,to get your bolt holes all drilled/tapped or self tapper holes made and then set the assembly in after the rad is in.couldn't ask for a more perfect time for the upgrade.

If you around red loctite long enough there will be a time when you learn to CURSE it. The biggest thing with loctite is thread pitch(the finer the thread, the better it holds), and how clean the surface is before its applied. I PROMISE you that if you brake-kleen(like your supposed too) the threads and fan-clutch nut on an IDI and smear red loctite on, you wont get it off without heat or destroying the threads. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. Blue locktite is all thats needed for most applications, including this one. Loctite is either a mechanics best friend or worst enemy...

I used a 1 7/8" wrench on mine with a long pry bar between the pulley bolts to hold it.... My engine stops very quick so the fan coming off is something i worry about...

These engines come to a sudden stop when you shut them down. Thats what happens to cause the fan nut to loosen up. The sudden stop of the rotating crank. Blue loctite and 175 lbs of torque will fix it right.

brand new with lifetime warranty.i just got a used one,but this pretty hard to beat for the money i suppose.the actual OEM ones are known to last for years and years,so i went used.

then you need to plan on a controller or relay switches.
the replacement rad for my '93 w/ factory a/c is ready rad #432194

if your truck doesn't have factory a/c and uses ready rad # 432148 you might want to consider something else.im not sure.

Putting the electric fans on is not as easy as just installing the fans. You will also need to upgrade the alternator, and also wire them into the A/C system if you have one and use it. Been there, done that.

he's got a '94 with the serp belt and 3g alt already (and no a/c if im understanding correctly.)

I never ever use loctite on the fan clutch. Always and only antisieze. Still fight to get them off, can't imagine fighting that sucker with thread locker on there.
