I've been reading up on the moose pump and the baby moose pump last night. I really like the quality and the time/ effort that goes into building these pumps, much like the pumps at work, if the plungers and barrels get overlooked, the customer really isn't gaining much... I very much like the sound of the "baby" moose pump as i'm not trying to push my engine to the limits once i turbo it, just get good power and respectable mileage. From what i did read though. This would require me sending the gentleman MY original and he would rebuild it to the "baby" moose specs correct?.... I dont know if i can afford this truck to be down long, as my wife and i are expecting our first baby boy in about a month, and we have only one other vehicle. Maybe there is a good place to find a rebuilt pump of good quality? Though i'm still not sitting the baby moose pump idea out.

A decent core is all that is really needed and an open request to the board at large will usually get a couple folks that have pumps waiting on money to go to Agnem for rebuilding. Perhaps an agreement can be reached with someone to send their pump to be rebuilt for you if you send your old pump to them for the time when they have the money to have a pump rebuilt... As stated in this thread a couple times already, we are as much a family as a brotherhood, and try to look out for each other as much as possible. If no one responds to the request (if you make it) then I will send my old pump in for you when I get my Baby Moose installed sometime in the next week. Now is a good time to send them in, because turnaround is pretty fast right now for whatever reason... Oh, and congratulations on the eminent arrival of number one son.

Welcome to the club! There's quite a few of us Oregonian's that hang out here on the forum. Hell, I even work in Coburg (Marathon). If you're shopping for a turbo kit, there should still be a Hypermax kit up in Corvallis on CL for really cheap. There's also a fellow OB selling a ATS down by Medford(?). Core IP's can be had fairly often on CL as well.

Well its good to hear that there are fellow IDI guys here close by. I was given a spare injection pump when i bought the truck, i just totally forgot about it. I'm not sure however if its a 6.9 pump or a 7.3 pump. If i want to go with the baby moose pump. Who is the correct person to talk about a quote on getting one rebuilt?

Well had an unfortunate turn of events today. Our car blew a tire and they happen to find a screw in the sidewall of another. So we ended up putting a set of tires on our car which has now cut the funds in about half that i set aside for the fuel system. This now means i wont be able to do the baby moose pump. I talked to the folds at Oregon Fuel Injection. They seem to be a good company and my grandfather has always taken his 6.9 there. So i will be ordering my pump from them and i will be buying a set of BB code injectors from them as well...... On another note, i found a guy down south with set of injection lines, so now i can take care of that mess under my hood.

Please don't spend more than $30.00 for the return line kit... Russ (typ4) in oregon too sells the sets and he is a standup guy. I call him my friend like so many other great guys are on this site... A set of BB code injectors is what you want... No sense buying a rebuilt set either. They usually don't last very long and are almost the same amount as new.... Russ sells those also...

icanfixall: thanks for the tip on getting the return line kit. OFI wants almost 40 bucks for their kit. They do sell BB code injectors new for $29 per injector. I would much rather support the board members if i can, i pm'd typ4 about getting a set, but have not heard back from him.... I again thank everyone for their kind words and helpful advice. Makes me feel alot more comfortable about tackling this and keeping my rig running right for the years to come.

Russ (Typ4) is probably cheaper to go through. But I think there was mention of him working away from home, so he might not respond right away. Oregon Fuel Injection's website states their injectors are new; might be worth asking if they pop test them and if so, what is the variance of opening pressures. This is an important part that is included with a set of injectors that come from Russ. He tests all of them and shims them so they open at the same pressure.

Anyone ever run an injection pump from Oregon Fuel Injection? They are priced at $440. I am curious as to how good they are.

Little update. Took care of the mess of injection lines. Got a set from a guy in Medford and installed them this morning. Engine runs smoother and i noticed a little smoother throttle response. Still need to do the IP and all 8 injectors and return line kit.

Thanks for the update. Glad you got the correct injector lines with the vibration dampers. That will payoff in the long run. Hang in there. When you can do it, the new IP and injectors will make a huge difference.

ATS Turbo kit score!

Well i made a trip to the junkyard today to get the metal return line for my IP. Just so happens the only 6.9 in the yard was equipped with an entire ATS turbo kit. I mean everything you need is on the truck. I pulled the intake and the turbo has minimal play in it. It does not contact the housing at all. And to top it all off. So if everything goes well. I'm going back this weekend to pull the entire kit off the truck. Anything i should look for thats not obvious that pertains to the kit?
