My 4cyl ford ranger overheated.. and im looking for a truck ive found a 1985 f350 with a 12 foot flatbed 6.9 with a C6 and a gear venders overdrive. the previous owner used it as a work truck(boiler maker) and he towed his mud truck with it. here are some pics. http://i1029.photobucket.com/albums/y357/corymwebb/P1000440.jpg

The other truck is a 1991 F250 with a 7.3 idi no turbo.. overdrive automatic transmission. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/316730_268515713160711_100000068524186_1102165_2533600_n.jpg

Neither truck has ever had a gooseneck hitch and both are in good condition inside and out... what do you guys think they will get as far as mpg.. 85% highway 15 %city

and which one would be a better daily driver keep in mind i live in a rural farm area where parking isnt a issue

I'd go with the C6 and gearvendors but it does look like the 91 is 4X, so that might be something to consider unless you don't need it.

I would vote 4x4, but thats becasue everytime i dont have one, I really need one.

I got stuck in my back yard pulling the donor crew cab home. I was spinning on wet grass trying to get up the hill last weekend. 4x4 would have been great to have.

Small Gas burners are cheaper to run, unless your pulling any kind of weight. My crew gets right at 17 on the highway, Loaded with 7k I get right at 14 so far. Try that with a gasser, Youll get 5 maybe.

This myth that dieseles get so much better fuel mileage is true only if its a bigger truck or your towing often. If your not doing either get a 1/2 ton 2wd with a small V6 and get well into the 20 range on cheaper gas.

If my truck were a gasser (351 or 460) I am certain I could see 10 MPG if the wind was from the back at 60 MPH. I just cant have a 1/2 ton anymore. Need towing capacity, hauling capacity adn a crew cab. So diesel it is or I get really crappy fuel mileage.
