Do the 12valve's have replaceable cyclinder sleeves? I'm wondering cause some engine rebuild kits I've been looking at on-line say they come w/sleeves... just wondering if there a repair sleeve or the wet sleeve... thanx in advance

p.s. I did try an advanced search but nothing came up

No, The B-series Cummins is a parent-bore engine. No sleeves/liners at all in it. If the bores are damaged, then they can be bored over and the appropriate oversize pistons and rings installed.

The C-series and up are all sleeved engines.

I beleive the IS* series of engines still stayed the same in this regard. ISB being parent-bore, ISC and up being sleeved.

When a cylinder is damaged more than 30 thou, there are repair sleeves that can be installed. The block is bored, the sleeve is pressed in and then honed to size and decked. This can save an engine and looks and works like new.

Sleeves actually are better than new, due to the higher nickel content than the surrounding engine block. This allows the sleeve to be harder than the block, without making the block prone to cracking from being too brittle.
