Electric Fan(s)

I am thinking about moving to electric fans. Is there a good junkyard option such as using Taurus fans like people do on Mustangs? Or is it best to stick with something from Summit Racing. Also after removing the clutch fan what do I need to bolt everthing back up so things are nice and tight where the fan was (it would suck to have a pulley fly off).

This is a 2 purpose mod. 1 I get some more power because well its electric fans etc, etc. 2 I will be doing a DT-360 swap in the future so I will need to move to electric anyway.

the pulley was to stay on if you wont your water pump to work. juckyard fans are great just test them first.

this is the schematic I'm using for my taurus fan. So far, I haven't gotten warm, and I'm only using a 351w radiator.

I would be using a toggle switch controller, a simple on/off. I know that partial speeds can be useful but I havent been in a situation where I need that.

So when I take off the fan do I just put the bolts back in and use an extra washer?

Sounds like a plan to me. I think I may just get some Summit Racing awesomeness. I will try to fill the entire radiator with fan.

Sounds like you have never had the fan off before. You are in for some fun. You will need to make, buy, or borrow the proper tools to unscrew the fan from the waterpump, and it's left hand thread. It can be tight.

It wasn't too bad - a pipe wrench and a pair of large vice grips

Nope, never had it off before. Sounds like it will be fun. Also anyone have any recommendations for CFM needed. Will this bolt on http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-272/ ? Thanks for the help folks.

since mine was just going to the scrap pile.all it took was a few seconds with a punch and 3lb hammer and she was off in a flash.

I will check out my local junk yard and see what I can come up with. Otherwise I may just slap some twins on there and go shroudless. Did it on my Mustang and Cuda and it worked fine.

oem fans have a built in shroud already designed for them.
