e4od..which brand TPS to buy

Hello all I'm a newbie to the e4od and want to replace my TPS. It seems to shift a little too fast/low rpms. Ford wants $77 for one. Borg Warner is $55.

Should I buy a factory one or is a quality aftermarket OK?

No I haven't. I plan to but I also have no idea when it was last replaced. I think it may be shooting some dead spots

Well a DMM, and about 30 seconds of testing will tell you that. It could simply bet out of adjustment, then you don't have to spend money. Even if it's bad, then it'll give you practice on testing one for when you have to set your new one. Also you'll want to test a new one anyway. Sadly new does not equal good.

I've just replaced far far too many good parts to not test before I replace anymore.

Well I checked it. 1.21 at idle. 3.89 high side. No dead spots I can see

1.20 is supposed to be the limit on the lower reading.

they should be replaced every 50k miles or after every rebuild anyway fyi.
with just a meter,it may be near impossible to spot a tiny bad spot.
ideal settings based on the latest revised bulletin (186A) is 1.2V idle/4.5V WOT.
you also need to insure your wires are not broken.while testing them all,wiggle them all around good.

i bought my last TPS at advance auto.a lifetime warrantied brand packaged as BWD EC3097 and it had motorcraft stamped on the actual sensor (bwd may change suppliers of their parts? so your experience may vary.not sure.)
