I'm new to diesels. My understanding of Stage 2 injectors is that they put out more fuel than OEM injectors. I'm looking at a used truck that has stage 2 injectors, but I'm wanting fuel milage, not power. Do the stage 2 injectors autmatically cut my fuel econ. down, or is it only an issue when I stick my foot in it harder than I need to?

Thanks,
Mark

How "new" are you. What year truck are you looking at? Don't get your powerstrokes confused with your IDI's. Pre-1994 = IDI. Post 1994 = PSD. 1994 = the year of confusion.

I can't say I've ever heard of "Stage 2" injectors for the IDI. Like Mel, I'm wondering if the truck is a Powerstroke.

If it is an IDI and the owner is saying he put Stage 2s in, then it may have DPS injectors. If that's the case, get him to lower the price on the truck, because you'll be needing to buy new ones. They may make more power at full throttle, but everywhere else they'll suck.

I'm very new. I'm still trying to buy my first diesel. I do know that the PSD came out in mid 94. The truck is a 94, and i haven't had a chance to talk to the guy yet. So its probably a PSD, and that answers my question well enough.

Thanks,
Mark
