Well, it looks like it has been a year since this posting and so far so good.

;Sweet TWO and ONE-HALF YEARS and still going strong !!! ;Sweet

It is amazing how fifty-cents worth of plastic tubing could cure a situation that had been plaguing me for years.

5' of 1/2" pex - $4.00 (they didn't have it by the foot)
Installing 4 new plastic striker sleeves - 30 minutes
Having your truck 17 year old truck latch like its new - priceless.

I never even knew I was supposed to have any plastic on my latches. Then one day, when I opened one of the rear doors, a little bit of plastic fell on the ground. I couldn't figure out where it came from, until I saw my FIL's truck, and noticed how well his doors latched and didn't rattle, and noticed the plastic strikers. So I did a little search here, and found them for $9 each at Rockauto, and decided to go the way cheaper route. I'm glad I saved my money.

I had one of those plastic bushings blow out on me at the Bowling Green rally. After 23 years, how dare that piece of plastic crack and fall off and make my door rattle! I pulled the whole convoy into the Autozone, bought the sleeves and the tool to change them out and fixed it right in the parking lot! Ended up doing the same thing with the Lady Moose a year later, only this time we had the tool. The older trucks take just the plastic sleeve, while the newer ones take the assembly that includes the sleeve, bolt, and L shaped bracket.
